Movement Beyond Stretching: Releasing Back Tension

  • Jiva Health Wimbledon Bridge London, England, SW19 United Kingdom (map)

If you’ve experienced chronic back issues, or often feel stiff or achy, there are intelligent ways to get things flowing that go beyond basic stretching and strengthening. Eleanor’s approach to mindful mobilisation of the back involves awakening fluidity and ease in the spine, which comes with getting to know your anatomy, understanding the way you’re designed to move, and allowing free physical expression.

In this workshop, you’ll learn about the anatomy of the spine, back muscles and connective tissue, and how issues in your back may be affected by imbalances elsewhere. Through explorative movement, you’ll learn how to notice and gradually release constriction patterns and move through full ranges of motion. We’ll use some self-massage to get things flowing, and restorative postures to practice yielding.

For anyone who joins my weekly classes, this will be an opportunity to learn more about the what and why behind my cues, with plenty of space to ask questions.

These workshops are suitable for all experience levels, as this work is about exploring the experience of your own body.
